Xbox 360 update 19 july 2011
There are a lot of new features coming soon to Xbox However, today's system update offers none of them. Major Nelson reminds Xbox owners that today's update is simply "preparation for additional system enhancements coming to Xbox later this year. Kinect is the big focus of the upcoming system software update , including a revamped Dashboard and Bing Search. Other features include the addition of YouTube and BBC iPlayer support, as well as " live television " and cloud storage.
So what's in today's update? Version 2. Online mumblings also suggest that Avatar Kinect will be enabled by the system update. It was promised to arrive by the end of July. Andrew Yoon posted a new article, Xbox update promises 'no new features'. Though somewhat superfluous outside the handheld market. The PC version is some low rez bullshit though. I fired it up for the early showing of that True Blood episode and quit after 5 minutes.
It was shitty enough to just wait. I wish that Microsoft would just leave the dashboard alone for a year or two. I'm so happy! But now I want more! Xbox make me a sandwich I've always been meaning to ask: is Major Nelson an actual Major or is just that his given name like Judge Reinhold? You can watch a video which runs through all of the Xbox related E3 announcements here , lots of innovative new features are coming to Xbox Live and the Xbox such as Bing powered voice search, also UFC events will soon be watchable via your console and you will soon have access to YouTube, we are sure that this recent system update has a lot to do with these upcoming features.
Because of the nature of the update we very much doubt that it will cause any problems to consoles, however if you installed the update and discovered an issue we would love you to tell us about it in the comments section below, we done some searching around and by the looks of things most people installed the update successfully. If the update has not hit your console yet do not worry, sometimes such updates take a while to populate certain regions, therefore it may be late today, early tomorrow before your receive it.
