This does not actually delete the mailbox on the server, as there should be a retention policy. Run mail-box clean up, you should then see the red X on the mailbox. Right click on the mail-box and re-attach it to the user. I am just afraid to make changes and have a big issues.

RE: Update the Global Address list If you don't feel confident with the procedure test it out first, which is something I would do. Create a new user test with a new mailbox. Send some emails to the new user so that there is data. Test the pocedure on the new user to verify the outcome.
